Introspection

Previously, I had tried to privilege Islam as the sort of final tajjali (which it is), which rests at a position ontologically above the other traditions. I have come to realise this was from my own ego, and the position, from the perspective of the traditionalist perennialist school, is actually untenable. This was the purpose of the Khatam Al Hikam essay, which was meant to be a series, analysing each tradition and explaining why it falls short of what Islam does. This, of course, is unfair, taking Islam as the standard and blaming the other traditions when they fail to live up to Islam's own unique peculiarities and cultural and temporal contingencies, which are nevertheless essential to the tradition itself. This also tries to make a reduction and misunderstands the various other traditions with their own peculiarities; culturally, ritually, and philosophically.
